Dental Mouthgaurds

Prevention for Tooth Loss During Athletic Participation

Approximately 5 million teeth are lost each year due to trauma and injury to the mouth. This statistic is just in the U.S. alone! The American Dental Association states that wearing a custom-made mouthguard during sports participation can greatly help to reduce the occurrence of tooth loss. Over-the-counter mouthguards sold in stores do not protect well or give the proper fit. Often times, they hinder performance, as breathing can be difficult while wearing one. It is recommended to wear a custom-fitted mouthguard for these sports:

Acrobatics, martial arts, racquetball, basketball, field hockey, football, gymnastics, handball, ice hockey, skydiving, lacrosse, roller hockey, rugby, shotputting, skateboarding, skiing, soccer, boxing, squash, surfing, volleyball, water polo, weight lifting, wrestling.
